  2. Dear friend,
I want to recommend the movie Elf to you. I recommend it because it’s a fun loving movie that the whole family can watch together. It has an overall positive message about love like when Buddy travels to New York to meet his father for the1st time so they can be together and bond as a family. A lot of family love is shown in movie displaying both the ups and downs but, in the end shows that the bond between family members can never break. Not only is there family love but also friendships that are made as well between the characters. Love conquers all in this movie. It is the perfect movie for the holidays or just wanting to watch as a family. In addition, there is also plenty of comedy which everyone loves I which Buddy tries to learn the social norms of living, stuck in between the world of an elf and that of a human. I have enjoyed watching this movie numerous times and you might too which is why I recommend you see it.

    Happy watching

  3. Kevin Huynh Sec 1: I recommend elf to anyone who enjoys watching happy movies with life lessons and themes along the way. The overall movie is centered around Buddy, a joyful human who must reconnect with his human family after being raised by elves. There are major themes such as acceptance, conformity, and family. In the movie, Walter must learn to accept Buddy as his son, even though Buddy himself is strange. Buddy must learn to conform to a human society, as he was raised by elves. Walter must also choose between his job, and his son Buddy towards the end of the movie. Overall, the movie teaches a lot of life lessons and also ends well with everyone happy.

I would recommend this movie to a friend because it is a great film for the holidays. I think a friend would love this movie because Buddy the Elf is a very likable character. He is an elf who doesn’t know how to live in the human world which is very intriguing in itself. It is a great movie because it takes an interesting turn on the idea of Santa and his elves. The transition of an elf from the north pole to New York City is quite interesting because as one would expect it is a hard and eye opening experience. This movie is great for Christmas and is a great option for a good laugh.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who wanted a comedy, with a little bit of family feuding, which everyone is use to. Also for anyone who needs some Christmas cheer, because everyone know “the best way to spread Christmas cheer I singing load for all to hear”. Elf is a movie that almost any person can get a kick out of, ant any age, if you are five to fifty. when watching this movie you will laugh with a few tears because it is so funny, also you become friends with Buddy the elf. Also when he ask you what your favorite color is you answer it, you don’t hang up on him. Now enjoy the movie, because I did.

  6. Dear friend,

I would recommend that you watch the movie Elf, because for one it is a hysterical movie. It contains very complex ideas as well if you think about it. Like how some people spend their whole life being a kid, and can not grow up. Also learn that, being in touch with your younger, and more cheerful side is a good thing. Believing in something means a lot. Being grumpy all day is not a good thing. It also is a good movie to watch to help get into Christmas mode. I would recommend this movie, because it can give you a few laughs and also teach you important qualities about being a human being.

  7. I do not recommend you watch Elf. It’s not a funny movie. It has it’s moments with Faison Love’s character who isn’t even an important character. If a minor character is funnier than the main characters, it means the movie is inadequate. The main characters Buddy acts like a child even though he’s an adult which in the real world is completely inappropriate and makes me uncomfortable. The second main character played by Zooey Deschanel is a Debbie downer and her voice is annoying. This movie is not a classic Christmas movie like home alone or the polar express. It is completely inappropriate for the holiday season.

  8. I would definitely recommend the movie Elf to a friend. This movie is so funny and is great for people of all ages. It portrays Christmas in two different worlds. The world of Santa’s workshop in the North Pole, and the world of New York. This movie is not only funny, but it also teaches you a lot. This is because Buddy has to win over his dad (who does not even know him) who is like the Grinch. Buddy also has to win over other people and adapt to the huge changes from where he once lived, to where he now lives.

  9. Hailung Chen

I would recommend the movie Elf. The movie can simply be described as a comedy that shows how a human who has lived all his life as an elf tries to fit into human society. Besides that it is perfect for Christmas as it sends the message that people should try to live life to the fullest and enjoy the simple things. Before Buddy the elf came, many people such as Buddy’s father, Walter, and Jovie seemed to only work and didn’t seem to enjoy their lives. Buddy comes and shows that simple things such as singing can bring happiness. Although the movie is generally about Buddy being silly and attempting to fit in, it also has deeper meanings behind it.

  10. I would recommend Elf to anyone because it is a classic. It is one of the general feel good stories that you watch just for the sake of watching around Christmas time. If you forget it or remember every single line if you look hard enough it can always surprise you. It pulls out the childish spirit in all of us, even the children! It shows enthusiastic examples of Christmas spirit that will make you want to out-do Buddy’s decorations in your own home, open up the forsaken lego pit and make your own empire state building, try that gross spaghetti mess just to see if it’s really good and attempt getting an elf job because it looks that easy. Though Zooey Deschanel as a blonde is sort of distracting you can push through it with the help of dynamic duo Will Ferrel and Mary Steenburgen, the classic mom. The movie wraps life lesson on top of another about true happiness and suburban wildlife safety. Elf is one of those movies that you see on TV and say “Oh!”. All in all, it just hits home.

Dear friend, I would gladly recommend the movie Elf. It’s a funny movie that you can sit with your family for the holidays and enjoy together. Although it’s funny it teaches a lesson about trying to fit in and exploring place(s) you have never been before. Also it shows how you should enjoy the simple things in life because before Buddy went to New York City to meet his real dad, his dad didn’t really explore and enjoy life. He spent most of his time in the office, and as Buddy came along he showed his father how to have fun and to enjoy the simple things in life. In a way it also shows a transformation from childhood to having to be an adult which I think most people can relate to. Overall, the movie is a great movie that has some important messages behind it.

  13. Dear imaginary friend,

I would recommend the movie Elf to you because I know you like to have a good laugh. This movie is about an elf who is actually human that grew up in the north pole and than moved to try and fit in to human world. This movie is ridiculously funny and the thing this elf does to try and fit in is absolutely hysterical. Not only is the movie but it has a lot to teach you that happiness can come in many forms as ridiculous as they may be. It is mostly about the elf but the movie has so many different things to show and I would recommend you watching it so you can learn something too.

    Happy watching Phil

  14. Dear acquaintance,

I would NOT recommend this movie to someone who believes that Christmas is a religious holiday. Christmas is the day Christians believe was the birth of Jesus, a prophet and also said to be the son of God. Instead of this, we get a typical capitalist version of a “real Christmas” meaning whoever gets the most gifts has the best Christmas. It helps support the lies that children’s parents tell them of this so called Santa Claus, a farce image that Coco Cola created to put on their products. Its also promotes bad eating habits such as Buddy’s constant consumption of sweets. Yes it does have family values between Buddy and his father’s family but in these scenes they put subliminal messaging to promote a corporation. If you believe that Christmas is something based entirely on lies so companies can get your money during the holiday season then by all means watch this movie. If you do not need to lie to your children to get them to “behave” during the year then I do not think this is the right Christmas movie for you.

  15. Dear friend,

I recommend watching the hysterical Christmas movie, Elf, because it is truly a heart-warming film. It reminds us what Christmas is really about – spreading joy and helping others (as well as Santa’s existence!). It also shows us how distant and cold the human race has become to one another when Buddy the elf is kind to strangers he meets in the notorious New York City and he is seen as a creepy, bizarre man. Since when did genuine kindness become strange?
From his miniature elf suit to his hilarious maple-syrup-and-spaghetti meals, Elf is a movie that any audience would love. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

    Sincerely,
    Josalyn Santangelo

  16. The elf is a great movie! Its an old Christmas movie that has been around ever since I was born. I would definitely recommend it because its great to have an old Christmas movie that is funny and brings old memories back. I love watching old Christmas movies on Christmas it helps me to feel the Christmas spirit and to enjoy the holidays not only by myself but with my entire family! And I want others to experience that also.

  17. To whom it may concern,

I would suggest Elf to all different age groups. Its especially great for kids with an imagination but that are still growing up to be young adults! its a great, loving movie with an abundant amount of life lessons in it ! It teaches you to still believe in yourself even when everything’s going wrong for you just like how Buddy kept a positive attitude even when his life was being turned upside down.Elf teaches kids that its important to have Christmas spirit for many reasons. Elf shows people that we should still have Christmas spirit even if we don’t think Santa is real. Christmas is more than presents to buddy, its laughter, happiness and being able to spend time with his family. If you enjoy laughing and Christmas then this is the movie for you!

  18. Dear Friend, I would recommend this movie called Elf. It was nice and funny, Will Ferrell has a great sense of humor in acting. His physical comedy and impish charm will take you back to your childhood when you believed Santa Claus was real and in the magic of Christmas. It is a nice Christmas story in New York which is a perfect way to portray Christmas. It was nice to see how Buddy was able to just love every experience in a hard reality, even the fact that his dad was kind of mean, he still loved him. This is a really nice family movie that teaches you the meaning of Christmas and the importance of family. Buddy’s innocence is sweet and the you will definitely feel the Christmas spirit after watching this movie with your family and laughing at all the childish things Buddy and his friends do.

  19. Allow me to be blunt, i do not like the movie Elf, i never have and doubt i ever will. perhapse it’s just the Grinch in me but i find the movie slow, tacky and with a lot of forcefully jovial bits ad pieces that remind me just how built up the holidays have become. not to mention that most of the humour is “fish out of water humour” which, though not always awful, typically is of the lower of the humour fruit and strikes me as very shallow and unoriginal. it’s also long, significantly longer than it ought to be. a 45 minute special would have sufficed, something like the Grinch. don’t get me wrong, there is enough to like, acting is good, accompaniment is good, the jokes are well delivered and the moral is family friendly, but none of these make up for the fact that i just didn’t find it funny, and for a comedy movie, that’s a fatal blow. i don’t know, i seem to be in the minority. play it at a party for some children and parents, but don’t be surprised if people leave the room.

  20. I would recommend Elf to anyone in any age group. Elf is a humor filled movie that entices the viewer with the Christmas theme and setting in New York. This was a movie that follows the journey of a “lost” Elf around New York trying to discover himself and his father at the same time. The movie has consistent comical moments which definitely make the audience laugh. Will Ferrell did a wonderful comic role in this movie and it definitely shows. The story line is simple, it won’t confuse a viewer. The movie definitely outlines Christmas in New York with the snow, the trees and rush of the city. The movie is about doing the right thing and getting to know yourself better because there is always something that we can discover about ourselves.

  21. Dear Friend,
I would recommend the movie, Elf, because of the cheerful perspective on how Christmas should ideally be and how a family can connect. It’s basically a comedy about the spirit of Christmas and how the character Buddy (a human raised as a Santa elf) affects the people he meets in New York while on a journey to find his biological father. It’s hella crazy and makes you laugh or smile at almost every scene. Dude, seriously go watch it.

  22. Dear friend,
I am not sure whether I would recommend the movie Elf. Yes, it is a very funny movie, but there is something about it that bothers me everytime I watch it. I think its the fact that its such a fake storyline and its made look so real. Or it might just be too happy of a movie for me. I laugh everytime I watch the movie, but I am never truly happy about sitting down and watching this movie. Therefore, if you are in a good mood and want to laugh during the Christmas time I would recommend Elf. But if you are not in the great of a mood or not in a Christmas spirit, DO NOT watch this movie.

  23. Since I was a young child, and as far back as my memory can go, I remember viewing the movie Elf at least a dozen times, likely more. All of my life I have considered it the iconic Christmas movie of not only my generation, but also that of my parents. The movie possesses an intriguing jovial quality that draws the audience in and is able to hold attention, through application of humor and emotional appeal, through its entire duration. Do not mistake me, by no means is this an experimental, inspirational, or life-changing viewing experience worthy of an Oscar. But by no means does it try to be any of that. This movie more than serves its purpose, to captivate the viewer with a positive message of family and the Christmas spirit which makes even the coldest season of the year into the most heart warming. For all of these reasons, I more than recommend this movie to you, I implore you to see it.

  24. Dear friend,
I would like to recommend an awesome movie to you. The movie is Elf. There is no reason to not love it. For one, your favorite actor Will Ferrell is in it! It is a very funny movie. Imagine a grown man thinking he is one of Santa’s helpers. It is not a feel good movie but it’s also a love story. Along his journey Will ends up meeting a lovely lady and falling in love! Either way it is a great movie perfect for the holiday seasons. Let me now what you think of it!

  25. I would recommend the movie elf to anyone who likes good christmas stories. This movie is a holiday classic and one of the best holiday movies I know. It is a funny family movie that can teach a good life lesson to people of all ages. it teaches acceptance, conformity, and the over meaning of family. This is the perfect movie for almost everyone and I recommend people watch it.

  26. If you love to laugh, Elf, starring the hilarious, Will Ferrell, is the perfect movie for you. It’s a great holiday comedy for the whole family. The movie focuses on a 6 foot elf named Buddy who clearly does not fit in with his fellow elves in the North Pole. Buddy the elf finds himself in New York City where he is faced with challenges and where he finds family, friendship, and love. This family film will fill you with Christmas spirit! I definitely recommend this laugh out loud movie!

  27. Dear Friend,
I would love to recommend this cute and funny holiday favorite. It’s about a elf named Buddy who is actually a human who was adopted by an elf. As Buddy find outs that he is in fact not an elf, he ventures out to the strange city of New York in search of his biological father. It’s a movie that will keep you laughing and definitely fits in with the holiday spirit. It’s a movie for all ages and a total classic. I hope you’ll like the movie too, friend.

  28. Dear “Friend,”

I do not recommend the movie Elf. Personally, Will Ferrell creeps me out, and I don’t find him funny in this movie, or like, at all. The embarrassment factor for his character in this movie also bothers me, and makes me uncomfortable. If you want to sit through a movie full of tedious Christmas music and Will Ferrell being unfunny in tights for an hour and a half, have fun. While the plot of this movie is original enough, and pretty creative for a Christmas movie – which are notoriously repetitive – it could have been executed in a way that actually made it funny, instead of cringe-worthy.

  29. I would highly recommend the Elf movie to someone who loves Christmas spirit and comedy. I love the movie Elf. It is my favorite holiday movie, and it has been a tradition in my family for a couple years now that we watch it every Christmas Eve late at night. The movie is full of hilarious jokes and scenes from “Buddy’s” singing and fooling around. It always puts me in a really good mood for Christmas, and kind of brings back the childhood spirit of when I thought Santa was real as a child. It is magical and definitely a fun movie to watch with any age group. I enjoy it every time. -Never get tired of watching it.

  30. (Alexis Kenney, sec 2)
    Dear Friend,
Assuming that you have a light sense of humor like I do, I think that you would thoroughly enjoy “Elf”. If you can take things for what they are, and realize that this only a lighthearted and fictional holiday film, you will love it! This is not like another holiday movie, it’s innovative as Buddy was raised be elves and sets out on a quest to find his biological father, and along the way gets involved in some insane situations. Yet with all of the craziness, and childlike spirit, Buddy finds himself. This is humorous and a great way to get into the holiday spirit. So again, if you can take things for what they are you will appreciate every aspect of the movie.

  31. Dear Friend,

I would recommend this movie as a family movie for everyone to watch around the TV sipping hot chocolate. This is not regularly something i would watch just to watch, but it is surely something the kids will definitely enjoy. Will Ferrels comedy and obsession with candy and sweets is definitely something that would get the kids laughing. The story is original and has a very nice message at the end that will have everyone saying “awwww”. So you should definitely watch it with your entire family invite the kids too they’ll definitely love it!

  32. I would highly recommend the movie Elf. Ever since this movie first came out, I’ve always loved watching it. It’s a great holiday movie that can bring anyone’s spirit up. If children are watching it, then Santa’s existence is surely reassured to them throughout the movie. Not only is it a good watch for children though but also to adults! This movie is great for good laughs and a good time in general. Not to mention the great story behind it. It’s not the ordinary christmas movie either. It’s about someone who doesn’t exactly conform to society’s expectations but loves the way they were raised and are so stuck on it that they don’t care/realize that the real world isn’t all rainbows and butterflies (in this case, elves in a workshop). Buddy the elf meets his real family and he sheds so much love for his father even when not getting so much in return. It can teach us all a lesson about how important it is to care for others and how sometimes the smallest gestures mean the biggest things. Buddy wasn’t the brightest boy ever but his talents were amazing. He is very good with decorations and perfects it even and his heart is bigger than ever and he could never tell a lie. His heart is one of gold and he falls in love and gets to share that heart with a girl. The movie gives you a little bit of everything and it’s a great watch. You laugh and you learn not to mention the fact that it puts you in a great holiday spirit! Everyone should watch Elf.

  33. To my lovely friends,
I recommend, for the holiday season, get yourself together with your families, and watch the movie Elf. Elf is about a human, raised in the North Pole as an elf, goes on a journey to reunite with his real biological human father after 30 years or so living with Santa and the elves. The movie hilarious, lots of humor, kids friendly (though do advise, there might be some hidden, indirectly mentioned inappropriate etiquette and language here and there), nevertheless, the movie provides moments to bond and cuddle up with your loved ones, especially during this chilly season. The movie teaches a positive lesson of innocence, maturity, honestly, acceptance, finding your true self by being yourself, and the meaning of family. Elf would be a delightful way to start the holiday season, spreading the jolly excitement, while learning positive inspirations. Elf is recommended for everyone of all ages. Please do spread the message!

  34. Dear Friend,
I would recommend thie Elf movie because it has funny moments, such as the absurdity of the movie itself. The cast includes famous people that include Will Ferrell, Bob Newhart, and Zooey Deschanel. However, to not keep your hopes up. It is stil by no means the best movie. Watch it to make your own conclusions!
    Your friend,
    Xavier

  35. Dear friend,
I strongly recommend watching the movie “Elf”, starring Will Ferrell, this holiday season. It has always been one of my favorite Christmas movies (I’m not a huge fan of many of the others. The plot line is original, the story itself has many funny parts, and it’s kid friendly, so you can watch it with little ones. The movie itself is heartwarming, it tells you about love, friendship, innocence, and the true meaning of Christmas. If you love laughing, which most people do, I seriously suggest watching this!
    -Christina

  36. Dear friend (or whoever is reading this),
I highly recommend the movie “Elf” whether you’re 5 or 55. This movie is filled with humor and will surely make you laugh. I mean who else would eat spaghetti with maple syrup and candy? I surely won’t. Will Ferrell is an amazing actor and he makes an amazing elf. His duet with Zooey Deschanel in the shower scene has to be my favorite! (Not to be creepy or anything). This is a great holiday movie and is one of the classics (I grew up watching this; what would a childhood be without it?!). This is an amazing film and you should totally watch it (with friends, parents, siblings, grandparents, trees, lamps, pets, etc.) If someone tells you otherwise please point them to the closest exit and enjoy!
