  • Typically occur in the MIDDLE of the sentence
  • Begin with a relative pronoun! —> qui, quae, quod
    • see charts on page 151
    • see translation page 152
  • End with an indicative verb —> THIS verb is in addition to the MAIN VERB in the MAIN CLAUSE
  • E.G. Fortis miles [ quem dux semper laudaverat ] in proelio interfectus est.
    • Relative Clause = [ quem dux semper laudaverat ]
      • Relative Pronoun = quem
      • Subordinate Verb = laudaverat
    • Main ClauseFortis miles in proelio interfectus est.
      • Antecedent of quemFortis miles
    • Translation: The brave soldier [ whom the leader had always praised ] has been killed in the battle.
