- Typically occur in the MIDDLE of the sentence
- Begin with a relative pronoun! —> qui, quae, quod

- End with an indicative verb —> THIS verb is in addition to the MAIN VERB in the MAIN CLAUSE
- E.G. Fortis miles [ quem dux semper laudaverat ] in proelio interfectus est.
- Relative Clause = [ quem dux semper laudaverat ]
- Relative Pronoun = quem
- Subordinate Verb = laudaverat
- Main Clause = Fortis miles… in proelio interfectus est.
- Antecedent of quem = Fortis miles
- Translation: The brave soldier [ whom the leader had always praised ] has been killed in the battle.
- Relative Clause = [ quem dux semper laudaverat ]
